The Bump-Friendly & Maternity Clothing I've Been Living In This Pregnancy
I grab these pieces over and over and over again.
How is it that, this time next week, we’ll have entered August? My baby shower will have come and gone, and my daughter will be just days shy of a month away from her due date.
When I found out I was pregnant, I became obsessed with maternity fashion, particularly spring and summer maternity fashion, since I barely enjoy warm weather clothes when I’m not sporting a baby bump. I watched maternity clothing hauls and styling videos on YouTube, and read reviews of countless pieces and brands online. I was going to be my most pregnant at the peak of summertime, so, what would I wear to combat the heat comfortably and stylishly?
After I announced my pregnancy on Instagram, I was flooded with emails from brands and PR representatives who sent sweet congratulatory messages and gifting that truly went a long way during this pregnancy. I’d like to sincerely thank everyone for their generosity. Baby girl and I are incredibly lucky and you have certainly made the transition into this next chapter much smoother for us both.
That said, I also flocked to various sites and stores, in hopes that I could find bump-friendly clothing and maternity wear that could help me navigate and feel more comfortable throughout these 40 weeks of various, significant body changes.
At 8.5 months pregnant, I’ve officially reached the home stretch and baby girl is growing rapidly. I still find myself needing to fill some gaps in my wardrobe but wanted to share with you some of the pieces I’ve been living in during my first pregnancy. A handful of the pieces listed are bump-friendly, rather than maternity-specific, so I can wear them postpartum and beyond, too!

Geifa Summer Tank Tops for Women

$21.99, amazon.com
This is a new purchase - I got it on sale during Prime Day - but I love it. I bought it in this pretty green-blue, a pink hue, and I might just add a few more options to my cart. The scoop neck is very flattering, and I’m obsessed with the easy way the material falls over my bump. The top is also lengthy, long enough to almost completely cover my backside. I’ve paired it with leggings, and the combination is a maternity dream.

$11, amazon.com
Funny story about this top: I originally bought it in purple last summer. I’d bought a size small and it was pretty oversized. I meant to return it but never did, so when I popped, I tried it on again and I liked the look at fit. It just happened to be on sale during Prime Day this year, so I bought it in this beautiful blue in a size XS. It’s the perfect fit, adorably accentuates my bump, and I plan on buying it in more colors.
SHEIN Maternity V-Neck Slim Fit Tank Top

$7.47, shein.com
I’ve had a lot of luck finding maternity tops that don’t look like maternity tops on Shein, and have gotten the most wear from this piece. V-necks are my favorite, and you can never go wrong buying a basic in a basic color, like black. I’ve worn it with leggings, jeans, and shorts. It’s plenty stretchy, too, so I’ll probably be wearing this until I give birth (and likely after).
PINKMSTYLE Women’s Basic Double Lined V Neck Tank Top

$22.98, amazon.com
I bought three of these double-lined tank tops from PINKMSTYLE on Amazon last summer, and they’ve continued to be a staple in my wardrobe, even despite my growing bump. I think the time has come when I finally outgrew them, but they served me well from my early days of pregnancy up until this point.

Abercrombie & Fitch Maternity Jean Leggings

$80, abercrombie.com
(*Was generously gifted from the brand - if you’re reading, thank you, so much, again!)
I got a lot of wear out of these maternity jeggings from A&F from the early months through seven months of pregnancy. The band was comfortable and supportive of my growing bump. I could probably wear them now (I’m 8.5 months pregnant at the time of publication), but East Coast summers are offensively hot for pants.
SHEIN High Waist Bodycon Color Block Denim Shorts

$10.19, amazon.com
(*I have purchased and been generously gifted pairs of these shorts by the brand - if you’re reading this, thank you, so much, again!)
Summer is not my favorite season for two reasons: I loathe the heat (unless I’m in a pool) and I am fairly self-conscious about my legs. But, on the East Coast, it’s too hot to wear long pants, so I either wear a dress, a flowy skirt, or shorts. Finding pairs of shorts that I like has been a struggle, and I had a feeling finding a pair of maternity shorts I liked was going to be just as much (if not more) of a struggle. Luckily, I found this denim pair from Shein that served me well. Unfortunately, they’re a little snug these days, so I’m on the hunt again (recommendations are welcome in the comments)!
Super High Waisted Best Loved Leggings

$38, express.com
My sister (hi April!) gifted me either these leggings or a very similar pair from Express, and to say that I have lived in them this pregnancy would be an understatement. I’ve worn them so much that they now have a littttttle rip in the thigh, but I do not care. I will wear them until they’re in shreds. That’s how comfortable they are.
Tencel Jersey Maternity Under Belly Lounge Shorts

$39.90 for two, quince.com
(*Was generously gifted from the brand - if you’re reading, thank you, so much, again!)
Whether I’m lounging, working from home, or running a quick errand, these Tencel jersey shorts from Quince have been a game changer. They don’t have a band that stretches over your stomach, but rather they hit right below the belly, sitting comfortably at the waist.
Dresses
Vitality Cloud II Square Dress

$98, shopvitality.com
(*Was generously gifted from the brand - if you’re reading, thank you, so much, again!)
Vitality’s Cloud II Square Dress has been one of my favorite bump-friendly pieces this pregnancy. As soon as the weather got warmer, this became a staple. The brand’s cloud material is buttery soft - it’s cloud pants are my favorite leggings in my collection. Note: The skirt is a tadddd short, but the piece is a skort, so don’t worry if there’s a sudden gust of wind.
H&M MAMA Ribbed Dress

$34.99, hm.com
(*Was generously gifted from the brand - if you’re reading, thank you, so much, again!)
I never really thought light green was my color, but this dress from H&M changed my mind. It’s the quintessential throw-on-and-go, one-and-done ensemble. You can accessorize to dress it up, or slip on a pair of flip-flops and be on your way if you’re heading someplace casual. It’s the dress I’ve gravitated towards when I wanted to look a little more put-together when running errands, and I’ve also packed it in my bag for an easy outfit post-swim.
Old Navy Maternity Mock Neck Mini Dress

$8.79, originally $34.99, oldnavy.gap.com
(*Was generously gifted from the brand - if you’re reading, thank you, so much, again!)
I wore this dress to my sister-in-law’s (hi Maria!) rehearsal dinner when I was 6 months pregnant and have been obsessed ever since. First of all, I love the blue color it comes in. It’s vibrant and gorgeous. But more than that, the dress is just one of those throw-on-and-look-fabulous pieces. One I’ll definitely wear postpartum.
Plus, for any mamas-to-be out there, the dress is on clearance and the markdown is MAJOR. You can snag it for under $10.
Bathing Suits
SHEIN Maternity Summer Beach Vacation Style Floral Printed Strapless Tankini Set

$13.69, shein.com
I am obsessed with this maternity tankini from Shein. It offers the bump and bust plenty of coverage for the modest mamas-to-be, and the pattern is just so fun and vibrant. Even if I’m just taking a dip in my parents’ pool, I feel like I’m on a tropical vacation if I’m wearing this suit.
