This Year's Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Has Me Feeling Autumnal Early
I wait for this sale every summer.
Have you seen those memes that say something along the lines of, “me on the Fourth of July vs me on the fifth of July” and the Fifth of July persona is wearing a turtleneck and a pumpkin on its head, dancing in a pile of leaves?
I’m not going to say that’s me, but it’s not not me.
Before you freak out and call me a summer hater, let me explain. I don’t want to rush the beginning of fall. I’m really enjoying summer 2024 thus far. However, autumn is my favorite season. Those closest to me consider it a large part of my personality. So while I’m basking in the sunshine, taking full advantage of my parent's pool, and looking forward to all that has yet to come (vacation, my baby shower, the birth of my baby girl!!), I am, simultaneously, well aware that there are only 11 Fridays until sweater season.
I’ve also started planning my cozy postpartum fall/winter wardrobe, thanks to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview.
Over the past few years, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale did not blow me away. I’d wait and wait for access to the preview, only to go through every single page of women’s discounted clothing and accessories and add maybe two or three items to my wish list. The offerings felt stale, repetitive, or were, in my opinion, too expensive, even with a markdown.
I’m thrilled to report that this is not the case this year. No, this year my wish list is stacked, consisting of a whopping 13 items, from undergarments to oversized sweaters to outerwear.
Of course, when I am granted access to the sale, I will not be adding all 13 items to my shopping cart. This is because, one, I don’t have a Nordstrom card. By the time I have access to the sale, half or more of the items I’m eyeing will likely be gone (meaning I’ll have to stalk the website for returns in the weeks after). Two, because, well, I cannot justify spending that much money on clothes right now. Or ever, really.
Still, I thought it would be fun to share my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale wish list clothing items, minus the intimates. I also thought it would be a fun experiment to see just how much it would end up costing me if I did splurge on these 10 items.
**Please note that I am not affiliated with Nordstrom or any of these brands, nor are either paying me to write about them.**

Sale price $89.99, originally $140.00, nordstrom.com
I’m not sure how into bodysuits I’ll be postpartum, but I love an off-the-shoulder sweater moment and the cinnamon hue of this ribbed knit caught my eye instantly. I was big on shades of brown last fall, but I think I’m even more obsessed heading into fall 2024.

Sale price $55.99, originally $85.00, nordstrom.com
It’s as if Topshop took Rory’s ugly fisherman’s sweater from the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls, made a few stylistic tweaks here and there, and made it fashionable. And turned it into a dress. This just looks comfortable and is practically begging me to wear it to a brewery and treat it to a cold glass of apple ale.

Sale price $52.99, originally $82.00, nordstrom.com
Well, that didn’t take long. Here’s some more brown! Only, this is giving chocolate bar. It’s evidently constructed from a lightweight yarn. I obviously haven’t touched it, so I can’t confirm or deny, but again, it’s a cozy knit. Need I say more?

Sale price $52.99, originally $79.00, nordstrom.com
As much as I am a sucker for the color brown, I’m even more of a sucker for a turtleneck tank. This top with dark skinny jeans and boots, hoop earrings, and a bold lip? A powerhouse formula of an ensemble.

Sale price $84.99, originally $128.00, nordstrom.com
When I think of my ideal chunky knit sweater, this is it. Free People nailed it. And no, that is not brown, it’s olive.

Sale price $35.90, originally $55.00, nordstrom.com
Another fabulous layering piece included in the sale is this mock-neck tank. This will likely be an add-to-cart for me, assuming the top doesn’t sell out completely before I have the chance to purchase it. Not only is it the perfect basic, but I also had a similar item in my closet that I loved that, unfortunately, got ruined, so I’d consider this a replacement buy (I also really like the black and white color options).
Topshop Cable Crop Cardigan

Sale price $44.99, originally $68, nordstrom.com
When I tell you I could not need this cardigan less, I sincerely could not need this cardigan less. Hollister recently and very generously gifted me a very similar piece in gray - but the heart wants what it wants, right? And it’s always nice to have something you love in multiple color options, right??
FP Movement by Free People Pippa Water Resistant Packable Pullover
Sale price $129.99, originally $198.00, nordstrom.com
We’re in the process of getting ready to move, which means I’m going through a lot of stuff, including outerwear, to see what we want to donate vs what we want to take. I haven’t narrowed down the coats I’m keeping in my collection yet, but I love the look of a crisp, white winter jacket like this one from Free People. Now that I think about it, though, I do have a nice white coat with faux fur grey detailing on the hood so this will likely be a pass (I’ll keep it on my list in case I change my mind, though).
Open Edit Tailored Vest
Sale price $39.99, originally $59.50, nordstrom.com
I dig the vests-as-tops trend and think this style is super cute. I’d pair it with a tank underneath, some high-waisted jeans and booties with a blazer overtop for the fall.
Treasure & Bond Tailored Blazer

Sale price $64.99, originally $99.50, nordstrom.com
Blazers are probably my favorite clothing item. I have a collection and am still happily adding to it. Two years ago I bought a grandpa plaid one from the Nordstrom sale, and this year I have my eyes on this distressed heather gray number.
Grand Total (with sale discounts): $652.81
Omg I love these styles! I feel like I also need that top shop sweater dress! I am also into the vests as tops trend too! Perfect fall wardrobe picks! 😁
