These Are My Favorite Barbie-Inspired Products of 2023
The fashion and beauty space is still seeing pink.
Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie movie hits theaters in less than a month, friends!
I thought Barbiecore was a phenomenon when the first still imagery of Margot Robbie as the iconic doll leaked back in May of 2022. I had no idea when I reported on the trend that the all-pink-everything aesthetic would have enough steam in its engine to keep chugging along at full speed more than a year later.
And yet, here we are.
Pink is the word.
It’s the new black.
Barbie is queen and we’re all bowing down.
At least, the fashion and beauty world is.
I was so excited to be the first to report on this trend. But, ironically, I was never the biggest fan of pink.
I was always a fan of Barbie, though.
I had a lot of them growing up and gave my dolls all kinds of dramatic storylines.
I’d play Barbies with my friends, too. I specifically liked to play Barbies with this one girl in my preschool class who must have had close to a hundred dolls. Her playroom was a literal Barbie world.
(Aqua members would be jealous.)
Who would have thought, at 31 years old, we’d be living in a real Barbie world, in which the clothes, makeup, hair tools, accessories, home decor - everything you could possibly think of - had been tickled pink?
For emo tomboy Julia circa 2006, this would have been a nightmare.
For fashion reporter Julia circa 2023, this is fun.
Educational, even. I’ve learned to love the iconic doll’s signature color.
However, I do think trends have gotten a little out of hand these days. They get overblown, to the point where any trend can become an aesthetic, and that aesthetic can turn into a lifestyle of sorts. (Tyler McCall wrote an excellent piece on the phenomenon called “The Biggest Trend of the Moment Is Trends.”)
The Barbiecore trend is no exception, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
So while I wait for Starbucks to come out with a Barbie-themed drink, I thought I’d sort through what’s available and round up some of my favorite Barbiecore products that are currently on the market.
So, come on Barbie, let’s go shopping!
Pacsun Barbie Good Times Crew Neck Sweatshirt
$45, pacsun.com
I love this sweatshirt, not just because the imagery is super nostalgic, but also because Barbie is a girl’s girl. Of course, she’s going to share the spotlight with her friends.
Barbie x Dragon Glassware Martini Glasses
$39.99, dragonglassware.com
I was sent a pair of these beautiful martini glasses when they first launched and I love them. I don’t drink martinis, but I do eat ice cream, and these fancy glasses make for an awesome alternative to plain ol’ bowls.
Sprayground Chain Reaction Tote
$90, sprayground.com
Talk about a statement tote. It’s bright, it’s beautiful, and bedazzled with gold hardware.
KBShimmer Pink or Swim Nail Polish
$11, kbshimmer.com
How beautiful is this nail color from KBShimmer? It’s bright, but as the product description states, is “not quite neon pink.” It won’t blind you like some other Barbie-esque products will, but it’ll still make a statement.
Merrell Women's Antora 3 X Sweaty Betty Hiking Shoes
Photo courtesy of Merrell x Sweaty Betty
$124.99, publiclands.com
The photo doesn’t do the color of this pair of athletic kicks justice; the pink is vibrant IRL, almost like a deep highlighter. But the bold hue is what makes it an epic running sneaker. No one can miss you in these, I promise you that.
Ponyback Everyday Fit in Light Pink
$42, ponybackhats.com
Ponyback hats are designed with a patented magnetic opening in the back so you can wear your hair in whatever style you’d like. I have a feeling Barbie would be all over this. She’d own multiple pairs and sport her fabulous high pony with it.
Wild Fable Women's Alessia Platform Heels
$20, target.com
I wrote about these heels for StyleCaster.com back in March. They’re under $40 and reviewers claim they’re dupes for the Barbie-esque Versace Platforms. Brava, Target. Brava.
Tavi Adjustable Studio Bra & Matching Stash & Dash Short
$55, taviactive.com; $78, taviactive.com
Come on Barbie, let’s go… to the gym. In this outfit. Because it’s perfect.
Gap × Barbie Adult Puff Sleeve Icon Denim Jacket
$99.95, gap.com
Gap has a whole collection of Barbie-inspired merch. I really loved their Ken t-shirt, but it (unsurprisingly) sold out. This piece was my second favorite from the line. I’m a sucker for a good denim jacket, and not only is this one pink, but it also has puff sleeves, which makes it that much cooler (not to mention 10x more stylish).
Venus Two Piece Skirt Set
$69, venus.com
Monochromatic sets saw a spike in popularity during the pandemic and have yet to fizzle out. Personally, I love a matching moment, and this two-piece crop top and skirt combo is *chef’s kiss.*
Amanda Uprichard New York Dempsey Dress in Giardino Print
$246, amandauprichard.com
Barbie definitely loves a delicate floral print, especially if it’s sprinkled over a poofy mini dress. Naturally, I’m also obsessed with this number from Amanda Uprichard, because as we learned from my last fashion post, I love a floral (right Maggie?).
CozyChic Ultra Lite Women's Barbie Pullover
$138, barefootdreams.com
If you’re going to splurge on luxurious Barbie-inspired loungewear, make it this cozy sweatshirt from Barefoot Dreams. You won’t regret it.
CHI x Barbie Dream Pink 1'' Titanium Hairstyling Iron
$109.99, ulta.com
I love a CHI hair styling tool, especially the brand’s flat irons. As far as I can tell, there’s no difference in design other than the color of the straightener. So, if you’re in the market for a new one, and you love Barbie pink, you’re welcome!
Barbie The Movie x FUNBOY Iconic B Inflatable Pool Float
$59, funboy.com
I may not have a pool, but my parents have a pool, and I thoroughly enjoy floating in it. I also thoroughly enjoy fun floats, and this one is both super cute and oh-so photogenic.
SOJOS Sunglasses
$13.99, amazon.com
*Gasp* this pick isn’t Barbie pink! But it is Barbie-inspired. See Black and white bathing suit Barbie for reference. Trust me, these shades are chic.
Kendra Scott Lee Gold Drop Earrings in Azalea Illusion
$65, kendrascott.com
I don’t love a lot of Barbie-inspired accessories because they feel cheesy. These drop earrings from Kendra Scott, however, are dairy-free. They’re beautiful and vibrant and can be worn day-to-day or for a formal occasion.
Candier by Ryan Porter You’re Doing Great
$31, shopryanporter.com
As I mentioned earlier, Barbie is a girl’s girl, and she’d definitely hype up a BFF having a bad day. This candle from Candier does so in her absence. It smells good and gives you a pep talk. Win!
Billini Eilish Boot
$100, us-billini.com
I cannot handle Billini’s Barbiecore Edit. It is too good. The Eilish Boot is my favorite from the collection. I love, love, love the Wild Berry Croc and Pink Patent Croc colorways. Looking at these shoes, I now understand Carrie Bradshaw’s obsession with footwear. It’s like walking art.
What is suppose to be in the blank squares?
I am available for martini’s I. Those glasses especially chocolate or expresso martini’s!
OMG I was SUCH a Barbie girl! I def was the girl with over 100 dolls (many hand me downs from my 3 older sisters)...Loving all the Barbiecore picks!!
